About the artist and his art
Ye Naing was born in Burma, and was a student activist involved in the democracy movement in Burma. When the military seized power in September 1988, he was forced into exile on the Thai/Burma border, eventually gaining political asylum in Australia in 2000. He is still involved in the democracy movement.
Ye Naing studied art and painting in Burma followed by an Advanced Diploma of Fine Art at Campbelltown College. He is now doing a Bachelor of Fine Art at National Art School in Sydney.
In Australia he is able to his express himself to an English-speaking audience through his art.
